Design Challenge: Volunteering with Friends
Our first design challenge in my Design Thinking class at TCU revolved around redesigning the charitable giving experience for Millennials who reportedly give 30% less time and money compared to Boomers. This project allowed us to take a hands-on approach to learning the design thinking process framework.
First we defined our opportunity as “How might we re-imagine the charitable giving experience for young professionals in a world where free time is valuable and discovering opportunities is cumbersome and inconvenient?” From there we interviewed 10 young professionals in the area and really gained insight into their thoughts and feelings on charitable giving. We then prototyped a few ideas of how to reach or incentivize our users, until finally arriving at a mobile app connecting users to opportunities focusing on building community for users.
